ʻEleʻele seed distribution Sunday

‘ELE‘ELE — Carmila Udarbe, Roy Miyashiro, and Coach Basilio “Bunga” Fuertes will be joined by Carmila’s brother Anthony on Sunday when the group distributes the latest crop of seedlings from 8 a.m. in front of the Gather Federal Credit Union ‘Ele‘ele Branch in the ‘Ele‘ele Shopping Center.

Anthony is an eighth grade student at the Waimea Canyon Middle School who will be touring Washington DC with seven other students, this summer. All eight students have high achievements in academics and leadership.

Seedling varieties that will be available include okra, long Harada bean, sweet long peppers, Japanese cucumber, mustard cabbage, Hawaiian hot peppers, Manoa lettuce, Rainbow Anuenue lettuce, Harada long bittermelon, medium-sized Nitta purple eggplant, University of Hawai‘i green eggplant, and parsley.

Proceeds from the distribution is used to get supplies for additional distributions with any leftover going toward Operation Washington, D.C. to help Anthony with his upcoming tour.
