10th Bike, Skateboard Safety Day on Saturday

LIHUE — Wilcox Medical Center announces the 10th annual Free Bicycle and Skateboard Safety Day will take place from 8 a.m. to noon in the hospital’s back parking lot near Same Day Surgery.

This annual fun, educational event offers Kauai keiki the opportunity to get outside to learn how to ride bicycles and skateboards safely with the help of Wilcox employees and volunteers, including community supporters.

Registration can be done online at tgilinks.com/43Y6qXN until Friday at 2 p.m. Registration can also be done on Saturday at the event. Registration is participants’ ticket for an opportunity to win free bicycles or skateboards donated by Wilcox employees and community supporters.

Free and open to the public, the Bicycle and Skateboard Safety Day includes a helmet-fitting station where Wilcox staff and volunteers will provide keiki with helmets that fit properly, while supplies last. Once fitted, keiki can decorate their helmets with stickers and other safe bling.

There will be a bike safety inspection station where riders can be certain their two-wheeled vehicle is safe to handle the enhancement course.

There will be a concussion prevention education station, and other presentation tables.
