Anahola structure fire displaces four

ANAHOLA – Kauai Fire Department firefighters extinguished a structure fire in Anahola on Sunday, July 13.

One individual was transported for smoke inhalation. Four individuals and one dog were displaced.

Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Manamana Road in Anahola on Sunday shortly after 3:45 a.m.

Personnel with the Kapaa, Kaiakea, and Lihue fire stations, the Fire Prevention Bureau, the on-duty Battalion Chief, and the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative responded to the incident.

According to a preliminary report, upon arrival shortly before 4:00 a.m., firefighters discovered a residence on fire. The Kauai Island Utility Cooperative shut off power to the home. First responders successfully extinguished the fire, which originated on the first floor of the structure.

KFD Fire Prevention Bureau investigators took over the scene and conducted an investigation.

Firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 6:15 a.m.

Two structures on the property were involved in the incident, one of which was a total loss.

Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $303,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
