LIHUE – The Department of Water (DOW) invites the public to attend an upcoming event to discuss the Hanalei Water Line Improvements Project.
Join the DOW on Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Hanalei Elementary School Cafeteria located at 5-5415 Kuhio Highway in Hanalei. This community outreach will provide members of the public with the opportunity to review the project and share their feedback. Refreshments will be served.
The Hanalei Water Line Improvements Project involves the replacement of aging water main infrastructure to meet current water system standards, including fire flow requirements.
Impacted areas will be the portion of Weke Road from Anae Road to Malolo Road; Anae Road; Hee Road; and Mahimahi Road. Additionally, the intersections of Kuhio Highway with Anae Road and Mahimahi Road will be affected.
The project will be carried out in two phases with Phase I commencing in mid-June 2025. Phase II will begin in the winter of 2025.
During the project’s working hours, there may be water service disruptions along with intermittent road and lane closures. Residents can expect typical construction site occurrences, such as noise, vibration and dust.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity, should contact the Department of Water as soon as possible at 808-245-5455.
