DOW, KEMA offer preparedness presentation

KOLOA – To kick off the start of the 2025 hurricane season, the Department of Water (DOW) has partnered with the Kauai Emergency Management Agency (KEMA) to offer a presentation on disaster preparedness titled “Disaster Preparedness: Ready, Set, Go!” The presentation will be held at the Koloa Public and School Library on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

“DOW is excited to collaborate with KEMA, the authoritative agency for emergency preparedness on Kauai,” said Jason Fujinaka, public information officer at DOW. “Together, we will educate and raise awareness on the importance of being ready in the event of an emergency.”

The DOW and KEMA will provide information on how residents should properly prepare for disaster emergencies. Attendees will learn how to create an individual emergency plan, how to assemble an emergency preparedness kit, and how to put safety tips into action. Additionally, each participant will go home with a complimentary, 20-liter water storage container.

The Koloa Public and School Library is located at 3451 Poipu Road in Koloa, HI 96756. Parking is limited.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible at 808-742-8455.
