LIHU‘E — Youth 18 years and younger are invited to have a free breakfast Saturday starting at 9 a.m. and continuing until 10 a.m. at the Puakea Golf Course.
Hosted by the New Hope Lihu‘e and the Kaua‘i Police Department, the drive-thru pancake breakfast will require social-distancing-rules compliance and cooperation with traffic guidance by KPD officers.
“The school district is doing an amazing job of feeding our keiki Monday through Friday,” said Jennyffer Vieira, a spokesperson for Police, Pastors & Pancakes. “However, there is a gap we would like to fill on weekends. The desire of the New Hope Lihu‘e church and KPD is to help fill this gap by providing free breakfast to all keiki and youth under 18 years old.” Police, Pastors & Pancakes is the first event Saturday where New Hope Lihu‘e and KPD will be providing meals for the island’s keiki and youth.
“Our heart is to bless our community and make sure no kid goes hungry, or to simply bring a little extra joy and relief in a form of this special breakfast,” said New Hope Lihu‘e Senior Pastor John Cabello. “I’m also very thankful to our wonderful sponsors, Puakea Golf Course and Grove Farm. This would not be possible without them, so come bring your keiki.”
