Fair Trade Coffee passes out $48,880

WAHIAWA — Kauai Coffee Sales and Marketing coordinator Emma Shinsky said, “To honor our 2025 community donation recipients, the Kauai Coffee Fair Trade Committee hosted a gathering at the heart of where it all begins — on the very farm where our 100 percent Hawaiian coffee is grown, roasted and packaged.”

The Kauai Coffee Fair Trade Committee distributed a total of $48,880 on June 23 to representatives from awarded nonprofit organizations who got to enjoy fresh-brewed Kauai Coffee and celebrate the shared values that make this partnership so meaningful, Shinsky said.

As a volunteer-run 501(c)(4) nonprofit, the Kauai Coffee Fair Trade Committee proudly coordinates the annual donations made possible by $.20 for every pound of coffee Kauai Coffee roasts. Shinsky said this is a community-driven effort that directly funds local projects.

“After we conducted a thorough needs assessment to identify Kauai’s key areas for improvement, we accepted applications from local nonprofits, and evaluated them using clear, equitable criteria,” Shinsky said. “Our goal was to distribute funds in a way that would maximize positive impact across the island and follow FTUSA guidelines. We are proud to support a diverse group of organizations doing vital work in our local community.”
