LIHUE – Kauai Fire Department firefighters extinguished a quarter-acre brush fire at an encampment on a hillside near Ahukini Landing on Saturday.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters with the Lihue Fire Station, Rescue 3, Tanker 1, personnel from Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the scene after receiving the report shortly after 6:10 p.m.
According to preliminary reports, the blaze consisted of trash and brush at the campsite.
The fire was brought under control by 6:20 p.m. and fully extinguished shortly after, using approximately 4,000 gallons of water.
The scene was cleared at 7:35 p.m.
The cause of the fire was undetermined.
