KAPA‘A – Firefighters extinguished a structure fire that broke out early Saturday morning in a two-story residential building on Laipo Road in Kapa‘a.
One person sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Volunteers with the American Red Cross are assisting the residents.
Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire on Laipo road in Kapa‘a at approximately 12:10 a.m.
Crews from the Kaiakea and Kapa‘a fire stations, along with Rescue 3, Truck 3, and the on-duty battalion chief arrived on scene shortly after, knocked down the fire within five minutes, and were able to salvage the majority of the structure. The fire was confined to the first floor living area.
Firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 1:50 a.m.
Fire inspectors estimate the damage to the structure and its contents to be roughly $125,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
