KAPAA – Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished a structure fire in Kapaa on Friday.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at Olympic Café on Kuhio Highway in Kapaa on Friday shortly after 3:45 a.m.
Personnel with the Kapaa, Kaiakea, and Lihue fire stations, the Fire Prevention Bureau, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, upon arrival shortly after 3:50 a.m., firefighters discovered a building on fire. First responders successfully extinguished the fire, which originated on the second floor of the structure.
KFD Fire Prevention Bureau investigators took over the scene and conducted an investigation.
Firefighters cleared the scene shortly after 5:45 a.m.
Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $369,000.
The cause of the fire was deemed accidental.
