Free keiki soccer clinic Saturday

HANAPEPE — The University of Hawaii women’s soccer team will be playing the Green and White soccer match on Saturday at the Hanapepe Stadium.

Hosted by the Kaleimanu Soccer Club with support from the County of Kauai, UH women’s soccer coach Michelle Nagamine and her Rainbow Wahine will host a free keiki soccer clinic for boys and girls ages 5 through 12 before the Green and White Rainbow Wahine hit the field.

Clinic participants are asked to bring their own ball, and water.

Check in for the clinic starts at 2:30 p.m. The clinic will run from 3 to 4 p.m. with the Green and White contest to follow.

During the 2024 season, the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine completed 12 wins, eight losses, and a tie to lead the Big West standings over UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, Long Beach State, Cal Poly, UC San Diego, and UC Riverside.

Nagamine completed her 13th season as coach of the Rainbow Wahine. She earned the Big West Coach of the Year awards for 2024, and 2019. Prior to that, Nagamine was the 2009 Pac West Coach of the Year.

During 2024, Nagamine visited Kauai with other coaches from the University of Hawaii Athletic Department to participate in the historic Koloa Plantation Days parade with the Warrior drum line.

During their visit to the Garden Island, the Tennis Department hosted a pickleball clinic at the newly finished Kauai Community College tennis courts, and the Beach Volleyball did promotion work for their tournament at Kalapaki Beach.
