Happy Valentine’s Day, Kauai!
Lucky we live Kauai where we’re having some rain to wash out some of that vog (when is that volcano going into its next phase, anyway?). Kudos to the Ocean Course Hokuala team on hosting the John A. Burns Intercollegiate (how do the nene know where the safe out-of-bounds are?) with the University of Hawaii men’s golf team! Final day action wraps up Saturday.
Congratulations to Kauai Police Department, Mike Contrades, Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami (he even brought his pickleball racquet to the blessing), and all those Kauai Police Activities League leaders on the blessing of the pickleball courts (it has basketball hoops, too!) next to Chiefess Kamakahelei Covered Play Area that lent the sounds of their happy kids to Jade Waialeale Battad’s blessing.
Laycie Love, Kauai High School, Trysen Kaneshige (Mel East said he’s coming), and a lot of people are starting the Drive with Aloha mural at the Kauai High School tennis court area … mahalo to K-PAL for the scoops on the project.
Sarah Tochiki and the Kauai Community College Jazz Ensemble want dancers to come out today (it’s actually Valentine’s Day) for her treat of jazzy dance tunes at the Kukui Grove Center … it’s free, people! And the Valentine’s collection of Showtime Characters will be there.
On Saturday, Hank Curtis has a collection of musicians including Peggy Lake, Laine Griffith, and more for a second musical presentation just in time for lunch.
And for those who just missed Valentine’s, Edwin Vea and The Beach House Restaurant hosts its monthly craft fair on Sunday.
