Kudos to Laurie Ho, Amy Chun, and all the Kauai County Farm Bureau hands that collaborated with Melissa McFerrin Warrack and Kukui Grove Center for another successful Tribute to Past Farm Fairs, and the 2025 Fruit and Vegetable Show on Saturday!
Brian Miyamoto of the Hawaii Farm Bureau came over from Honolulu, along with Jean Souza’s helper from the Ocean Discovery at the Aloha Tower. Jean’s normal crew of helpers were all tied up with Na Kupuna O Kauai Legacy of Aloha at the Lydgate Park where Mel Rapozo played double duty by standing in for Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami in presenting congratulatory certificates for the 12 kupuna who were honored.
Tiffany Lum and Austin Wright of the Kauai Menehune Kitchen made it from the Hanapepe Art Night on Friday (who said they’re going this week because of the honeybees?) to the Farm Bureau event on Saturday. And, they don’t have much time to breathe since they’ll be back again on Monday for the Pau Hana Market that starts at 3:30 p.m. at the west parking lot at Kukui Grove … mahalo, Gary Maguire for lending the farmers all those tables to hold the fruit and veggies!
Kudos to Johnny Gordines and the Hawaii Tropical Flowers and Foliage Association for getting all those great floral designers to create all the fancy creations that used some of the newest hybrids, and even the Showtime Characters Chicken could not resist the air conditioning … how many days notice does Bryden Kaauwai need to set up the Frozen Lemonade for the Boys &Girls Club? Bryden and his BGCH leaders did a wonderful job with the carnival-style family games (I saw the “Fill the Bottle” backdrop while checking out the Psychic Fair).
