Happy Camper for Saturday, January 18, 2025

Kudos Asher Griffith, John Constantino, and all those Kauai Community College hands to coordinating the welcome event for students. Not only is it a great opportunity for students to find their roots on campus, John said it was the first time the event was held in the Student Life center (it’s indoors!) where one student said there was no cream for the coffee.

Newly installed University of Hawaii President Wendy Hensel is coming to deliver the keynote address for the Kauai Filipino Chamber of Commerce Awards and Installation “Gala” later this month (get your tickets before it sells out) at the Sheraton Kauai Resort. President Hensel is scheduled to visit the Kauai Community College in March as part of her 10-campus tour as the UH president.

Kelli Cadavona of the Kauai Historical Society (edible markers for decorate your own cookies?) said there are a few tickets left for the Muumuu Paina (there was a good-sized audience at the Miso and Muu Wee Wiggle event on Friday) that’s going to start at noon on Sunday at the Smith’s Tropical Paradise … get yours before it sells out, too.

Kudos to Shannon Hiramoto (she said she wants to be a spectator at the Muumuu Paina), Victoria Lam of Little Miso Book Mobile, and all those hands that made the Miso and Muu event take place … Alanna Souza has to thank her mom for having that muu that fit the bill for the anticipated heat … no, there was too much wind, but the Keiki to Career outreach for free books (0 to 5 years old) went on, anyway.

OK, Monday is a national holiday … no, it’s not the presidential inauguration. Happy birthday, Martin Luther King, Jr.! The Interfaith Roundtable of Kauai can use your presence at their MLK event taking place at the Kauai Soto Zen Temple in Hanapepe.

Stay safe!
