Happy Camper for Saturday, June 28, 2025

Santa (you didn’t know he drives the shuttle for Anchor Cove, and is on the air in the afternoons on FM97?) said there is a new place in the Anchor Cove Annex where the sushi shop was where you can golf in UV light … they even have a full-sized hula girl who performs a dance when you ace a hole. And, it’s not the sky-high tourist prices either.

Kudos to the Hawaiian Lifeguard Association and County of Kauai student interns Kahelelani Brede, Jai Kalani Dominguez, Kolohaiaheahe Kuhaulua, Koa Christopher Rine (and, Chantal Zarbaugh said Mahina Urminska is an “alaka‘i”) for leading three of the sold-out Junior Lifeguard camps (they wrapped up the Kalapaki Beach program on Friday).

Jaime Arriola said the Kauai Lifeguard and Swim Aquatics Kauai will be starting the second Learn to Swim classes soon, at the Kauai High School pool. Both of these water programs have been very popular and anxiously waited for.

On Sunday (yes, it’s after all the Saturday activities), the Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay and ‘Aina Ho‘okupu o Kilauea is hosting a volunteer workday and a Peace Pole planting from 9 a.m. at the Kilauea Community Agricultural Center. Ron Margolis said there are about 20 young Rotarians from the Mainland who are eager for a morning of service, including clearing pathways, planting and park improvements followed by the installation of a Peace Pole (is this the first one going in Kilauea?), and peace celebration.

Is Kekaha going to have its annual July Fourth celebration since the Kauai Hospice “Concert in the Sky” fundraiser is canceled due to safety concerns from the ongoing work at Vidinha Stadium?
