The Training Ship Golden Bear is coming to Nawiliwili Harbor starting today and staying until 8 a.m., Tuesday morning. However, Jessica Fowler from the California State University Maritime Academy said uncertainty exists about whether the public can visit the ship while in port at Nawiliwili. I guess the only way to find out is to check with security.
In the meantime, there is a lot going on starting with Kulia I Ka Nuu Hawaiian Health Fair Kauai at the Kauai Museum today with a free basic haircut from 9 a.m. to noon, and lots of Hawaiian music and health information.
The Boroboro Boutique, and lots of grandma-style workshops, demonstrations and even make your own boroboro, opens at the Kauai Society of Artists gallery from today, Sunday and even Monday (no mail delivery today).
The Girl Scouts of Hawaii (are the Scouting troops cleaning the headstones at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery?) are sewing lei for the graves at the Kukui Grove Center and can use flowers, ti leaves and even some help with sewing … Cynthia Dorsey (remember the Older American Month female winner?) is hoping some of the graduation lei make its way to the Kauai Veterans Cemetery (need to be there by 8 a.m. on Monday) for the annual Kauai Veterans Council Memorial Day Service that starts at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Memorial Day, like other graveyard days, will place a high demand on flowers at the Grove Farm Market today at the Puhi park open field (they already had the parking marked off following the Kawaikini New Century Public Charter School graduation on Friday).
Stay safe and drive with aloha.
