HHSAA watching the weather

HONOLULU — Hawaii High School Athletic Association announced Wednesday that HHSAA officials are “closely monitoring” the approaching weather system, and the potential impact on the quarterfinal round of the state girls soccer championships that is scheduled to play today at the Waipio Soccer Complex.

At press deadline, Waimea High School, if successful against the tournament’s No. 5 seed Kailua High School, is scheduled to meet No. 4 seed Seabury Hall starting at 3 p.m.

Kauai High School, earning the No. 2 seed at the state soccer championships, is schedule to meet the winner of the Waialua and Aiea high schools meet this afternoon.

The HHSAA said that depending on weather conditions overnight and field conditions today, the HHSAA may need to relocate some or all of today’s matches to an alternate field.

A final determination regarding field locations and/or postponement of any matches will be made today, and media outlets will be notified by email of any changes.

The HHSAA encourages teams, families and fans to stay informed by checking the HHSAA website at hhsaa.org for any alerts.
