Interfaith Round Table of Kauai Talk Story today

KILAUEA — The Interfaith Round Table of Kauai (IROK) is sponsoring a Talk Story gathering today from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Anahola side of Kilauea with two fascinating, knowledgeable, heart-centered, inspirational speakers.

This event is as a lead run to IROK January events related to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., celebrations.

One of the presenters will be Arthur McFarlane II, who is the great-grandson of Civil Rights activist W.E.B. DuBois. McFarlane will share is personal knowledge of his great-grandfather, connections to King, and how the work of these men are influencing how we deal with the challenges we face today relating to justice, equality, freedom and self-determination.

The second presenter is Kerri Lake. Lake was aware of her awareness in infancy. Knowing the absence of doubt, and guided by her relationships with animals and nature, she lives deliberately, assisting humanity to see and choose kindness and harmony in relationships. The work she’s facilitated for over two decades is now entering academic and technological spaces, asking: “What if Al could help humanity expand our awareness rather than replace the need for it?”

At the gathering, Lake will share from her paper entitled, “If We Want An End To War Someone Has To Stop Fighting.”

The venue is located at 4471 Kapuna Road in Kilauea.

At mile marker 19 turn makai (toward ocean) onto Kapuna Road, take first driveway on right and then go left at fork. Turn left onto the grass and parking assistants will guide you.

Participants are encouraged to arrive early and bring comfortable beach chairs. Some chairs will be provided. This is a free event open to all. Donations for space gladly accepted.
