Kauai Comic Con is back

Kauai Comic Con is coming on Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.

Organizer Aaron Yamasato said tickets are now on sale through the event’s website at www.kauaicomicconvention.com. Advance tickets are encouraged because the previous five events were sold out at the Royal Sonesta Kauai Resort.

Additionally, advance tickets are available at a discounted price over the tickets (if any) that will be available at the door. Children 12 years and under are free with a paying adult.

“We’re going to be at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall this year,” Yamasato said. “This should be a fun, new venue.”

Comicon attendees can expect to see a wide variety of vendors — many from off-island — selling comics, collectibles, art, and other cool merchandise. There will also be panel discussions and special guests.

“Sydney Agudong will be returning as our special guest,” said Yamasato. “It is so amazing and wonderful how her Lilo &Stitch is a huge, worldwide blockbuster hit.”

“Sydney stars as Nani in the live-action ‘Lilo &Stitch’ movie that is now available on digital,” Yamasato said. “Check out her new single, ‘All of Me!’ streaming now on all music platforms. Don’t miss your chance to meet her in person at Kauai Comic Con 2025.”

Other special guests include Ming Chen of Comic Book Men; voice actor Debi Mae West of Naruto’s Lady Tsunade, Tekken Metal Gear Solid, Sailor Moon and 101 Dalmatians; Keone Young of G.I. Joe, Star Wars, Star Trek, Ultraman Hi Hi Puffy Amiyumi and The Last Airbender; and storyboard artist Gavin Arucan of Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss.

“Oh yeah,” Yamasato said. “A returning guest artist from Oahu will be Spactana. He did that awesome sticker of you that was driving people crazy during bon season.”

(Editor’s note: Dennis Fujimoto’s daughter commissioned a special edition sticker for her father, featuring the Happy Camper hard at work.)

Spactana, a digital artist and animator from Oahu, said he’ll have stickers at the Kauai Comic Convention, including the special edition “Dennis Fujimoto sticker.”

“The organizer/director Aaron Yamasato saw the art from Ron Wiley and fell in love with it,” Spactana said. “He messaged me if I could bring them to the event. I was recommended to share images of my merchandise and local celebrities, especially from Kauai.”

“I was born and raised in Oahu,” Spactana explained. “My art is inspired by the local island lifestyle and my favorite anime, cartoons and video games. My goal is to make people smile and laugh with my art.”

According to the Kauai Comic Con website, in addition to all the pop culture-related activities, the convention will feature a cosplay contest where attendees can show off their costumes and compete for prizes. There will also be a gaming area where attendees can play their favorite tabletop and video games.

Registration for the cosplay contest can be done online at www.kauaicomicconvention.com.
