Kauai Concert Sinfonia opens KCA season

LIHUE — The Kauai Concert Sinfonia opens the Kauai Concert Association’s 51st Concert Season on Sept. 6 with maestro Tito Munoz conducting Mahler Symphony No. 1 “Titan” at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center.

There are a limited amount of student tickets available at $20. Advanced adult tickets are also available for $40 each. Tickets will also be available at the door for $50 each.

Tickets may be ordered online by visiting the KCA website at www.kauai-concert.org for the Sept. 6 performance where doors for the 51st Season Gala will open at 6 p.m. and the concert starting at 7 p.m.

KCA’s website described the Kauai Concert Sinfonia as “Kauai’s first professional orchestra with musicians from Kauai — including Monica Chung on piano, Oahu, Big Island, and the Mainland.”

Joining Munoz, this year’s Sinfonia includes Concertmaster Nelly Kovalev and Assistant Kaycee Milne on Violin I. Principal Rachel Saul Schifino and Mahjinka Stebbins are Violin II, and Principal Alexander Pena and Drew Ricciardi are viola. Principal Joshua Nakazawa and Karen Hall are cello, and Shawn Conley is bass.

Julia Richter is flute, and Mike Albert is oboe. Principal Melanie Yukumoto is clarinet, and Max Arakaki is bass clarinet. Kevin Hall is bassoon, and Principal Jamie Sanborn and Colton Hironaka are French horn.

Farley Sangels is trumpet, Jordan Schifino is percussion, and Daniel Welch is harmonium with Monica Chung on piano.
