Never forget 9/11: Couple of events scheduled to mark the anniversary

LIHUE — The Kauai Habitat for Humanity is hosting a Day of Service &Remembrance on Wednesday, and the Kauai RSVP is hosting a special program on Sept. 25 at the Kukui Grove Center in observance of Sept. 11.

“In honor of the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, the Kauai Habitat for Humanity invites the community to join us for a special volunteer opportunity and remembrance at our ReStore on Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.,” said David Bieker, the Kauai Habitat for Humanity communications specialist. “This day of service is an opportunity for volunteers to honor the lives lost and the sacrifices made on Sept. 11 while giving back to our local community.”

During the volunteer day, volunteers will help in the ReStore with tasks such as organizing donated items, pricing and stocking shelves. Proceeds from every sale in the ReStore directly support the Kauai Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building affordable homes for Kauai families.

To register, visit the Kauai Habitat for Humanity’s website at www.kauaihabitat.org.

Grace Delos Reyes wants everyone to attend the special National Day of Service and Remembrance program scheduled for Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kukui Grove Center.
