Community meeting for Kilauea Town Expansion Project July 31

KILAUEA – The County of Kauai Housing Agency announces a community meeting for the Kilauea Town Expansion Project to be held on July 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Anaina Hou Community Pavillion in Kilauea.

The Housing Agency will present the updated layout and provide additional progress updates.

The Anaina Hou Community Park is located at 5-2723 Kuhio Highway, Kilauea.

For those unable to attend, the Housing Agency still welcomes input. Meeting materials will be posted on the project website after the meeting.

Lane closure update for Poipu Road

KOLOA – Due to an extension of the work area, lane closures for Poipu Road, from the Koloa Road junction to the Poipu Roundabout, will now take place from Monday to Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting.

These traffic modifications are necessary for vegetation maintenance and road repair work. Electronic message boards will be posted to inform motorists. Drivers are encouraged to plan accordingly, allow extra travel time, and avoid parking in the work zones. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic.

Lane closure update for Maluhia Road

KOLOA – Due to schedule delays and extension of the work area, lane closures have been extended on Maluhia Road, from Kaumuali‘i Highway to Ala Kino‘iki junction, through Friday. Lane closures will be in effect weekdays, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.

These traffic modifications are necessary for vegetation maintenance and road repair work. Electronic message boards will be posted to inform motorists. Drivers are encouraged to plan accordingly, allow extra travel time, and avoid parking in the work zones. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic.

KPD records and firearms services adjust hours

LIHUE – The Kauai Police Department (KPD) is notifying the public of temporary changes to Records and Firearms service hours due to a staff training.

The Records and Firearms registration windows will be closed from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Monday.

On Tuesday, the Firearms registration window will close early at 12:30 p.m. and remain closed for the rest of the day. Records services will remain open during regular hours.

Normal business hours will resume on Wednesday. Records services are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and firearms registration services are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., excluding state and federally observed holidays.
