Used book sale during Koloa Plantation Days

KOLOA — Amid the swirl of excitement from the 9-day Koloa Plantation Days, the Friends of the Koloa Public Library announced its annual used book sale on July 22-24 at the Koloa Public Library, located adjacent to Koloa Elementary School.

Sale hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 1 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday.

The sale includes a large selection of good condition, gently used books with all nonfiction books arranged by subject, said retired Koloa Library Librarian David Thorpe of the Friends. Fiction books are separated by categories and arranged alphabetically by author within categories. There will also be a selection of Blu-ray discs.

All of the proceeds from the used book sale are used to fund purchases of needed library materials and programs to benefit the Koloa Public Library.

Electric vehicle chargers and parking stalls along Eiwa Street unavailable

LIHUE – The Department of Parks and Recreation announces that the electric vehicle chargers and their respective parking stalls in the county parking lot along Eiwa Street will be temporarily unavailable today and Thursday.

This closure is necessary for the contractor to replace broken chargers.

The Department of Parks and Recreation thanks the public for their patience and understanding during this closure.
