Fumie Beppu

Fumie Beppu peacefully passed away at her residence while surrounded by her family and caregivers on July 31, 2021. She was born in Wahiawa, Kaua’i on May 17, 1922, and was 99 years old at the time of her passing. She was a retired secretary for Waimea High School.

Fumie was preceded in death by her parents Shigezo and Tamayo Nakao, brothers Shigeo Nakao and Yukio Nakao, sisters Kayo Nakao and Hideyo Nakao and son Myron Nakao.

Fumio is survived by her husband Harry T. Beppu, son Frank (Diane Chong) Nakao of Honolulu, Hawai‘i, daughter Reni (Steven) Pereira of Hanapepe, grandsons Stuart Pereira of Corvallis, Oregon and Marcus Pereira of Hanapepe, brother Yasuo Nakao of Pearl City, Hawaii, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Theodore Kawahinehelelani Blake

Theodore Kawahinehelelani Blake passed away on July 19, 2021, at the age of 72, in Koloa. He was born on March 1, 1949, in Lihu‘e. He was a Cultural Preservationist.

Theodore was preceded in death by his parents Hartwell Kawaihinehelelani and Grace Ng Moi Lau Blake and brother Hanale Blake.

Theodore is survived by his wife Tatiana Fara‘uo Blake, son Jenson Merrick of Kahalu‘u, daughters Lahela Blake of Kaneohe, Chloe Blake of Lihu‘e, Orianne Grillet of Moorea, French Polynesia, Tea‘aupoo Layeillon of Moorea, French Polynesia, grandchildren Ka‘ilialoha Dias-Blake, Kumalie Dias-Blake, Grace Merrick, Lawrence Marston, Ahonui Bambridge, Alaka’i Bambridge, great-grandchild Adalynn Ouchi, brother Hartwell Blake of Koloa, sister Patti Blake-Silva of Waianae, O‘ahu, numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held at a later date.
