NAWILIWILI — Golfers at the Ocean Course Hokuala recently enjoyed a pair of hole-in-ones over two days, according to Hualani Duncan, the golf sales manager.
On Oct. 23, Kyle Johnson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, playing 137 yards from the Hihimanu white tee box at Hole No. 8, used a pitching wedge to hit a high fade, landing three feet short of the hole, and rolling in for the ace.
On the next day, Oct. 24, Becky Sommer, witnessed by Mark Sommer, carded an ace on Hole No. 17. She was playing 104 yards off the Nai‘a orange tee box and accomplished the feat using a No. 8 iron.
Home to the longest continuous stretch of oceanfront holes in Hawaii, the Ocean Course Hokuala was named one of the “World’s Most Beautiful Courses” by MSN Travel. The 18-hole golf course is part of Timbers Kauai Ocean Club &Residences, a private residential club that opened in 2018 on Kauai’s southeast coast.
