KILAUEA — Everyone is invited to join the Gather Federal Credit Union ohana when Gather celebrates the grand opening of its Kilauea location across the street from the Kilauea Post Office on Friday.
“We welcome our North Shore members, friends, families and neighbors to join us for this momentous occasion,” said Tess Shimabukuro, the Gather FCU president and CEO, in the announcement. “We are looking forward to gathering with everyone for live music, giveaways, exclusive grand opening offers, and a blessing officiated by Kahu Wayne Vidinha. We’ll also have ono food from Kilauea Bakery, coffee from Kai Bar Kilauea, and shave ice from K. Snack Shack.”
Starting at 10 a.m. and continuing until 2 p.m., the Kilauea location becomes Gather FCU’s seventh branch office. The Kilauea location is a milestone for Gather FCU that, with the opening, is now located in every region on the island.
One of the grand opening specials include the first 50 new accounts receiving an exclusive 18-ounce Yeti Kilauea water bottle.
The new Kilauea office has ample parking. It will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Kilauea location offers checking and savings account, credit cards, personal loans, a drive-up 24/7 Automated Teller Machine, and more services.
Another grand opening special is an in-branch share certificate special that includes a choice of a 7 percent Annual Percentage Yield (APY) for three months (deposit minimum $1,000, maximum $10,000), or a 5 percent APY for five months (deposit minimum $1,000, maximum $50,000).
This offer is valid through July 21. To qualify, applicants must apply in-person at the Kilauea branch office.
Another special is the bonus incentive with a 2 percent cash back signature Visa card. Successful applicants of the Visa card who spend $2,500 in the first three months of opening the account will receive a $500 bonus. Applications must be completed and submitted in-person at the Kilauea branch office.
“For more than 70 years, Gather FCU has been a trusted financial partner for Kauai and Niihau residents,” Shimabukuro said. “Our Kilauea office manager, Derek Leyendecker, and his team of friendly, familiar faces are excited to help North Shore families and businesses thrive.”
The Gather FCU story started in 1954 when 10 hard-working pineapple farmers pooled their resources and did something none of them could have done alone — they started a federal credit union.
The farmers believed that together, they could provide a better life for their families. Today, Gather FCU is a not-for-profit cooperative that provides a full array of financial products and services to more than 38,000 member-owners on Kauai and Niihau.
