Public invited to 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance

LIHUE – The Kauai Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), sponsored by the County of Kauai Agency on Elderly Affairs, invites the public to a Day of Service and Remembrance on Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kukui Grove Center in Lihue.

This special event will bring the community together to honor the lives lost and the heroes of Sept. 11, 2001, while also highlighting the values of service, resilience and unity.

The program will include guest speakers, recognition of Kauai’s RSVP “Gold” Volunteers, live entertainment, prize giveaways, and opportunities to take part in meaningful acts of service, such as writing notes of appreciation to Kauai’s first responders.

“This day is about remembering and honoring, but also about acting in solidarity as a community,” said Andrea Alfiler, director of Kauai RSVP. “Through service, we connect with each other and with the values of compassion and resilience. We welcome everyone to join us — to show gratitude, to stand together, and to experience the joy of giving back.”
