Red Raiders sweep, KIF air riflery championship Saturday

LIHUE — Kauai High School Boys and Girls air riflery teams earned victories on Saturday during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation matches contested at the air rifle range on the Kauai High School campus.

Just 58 total points separated the winning Kauai High School team, which scored 1,284 points, from the Waimea High School boys, who finished with 1,226 total points.

On the Girls’ range, the Red Raider ladies emerged just 30 points ahead of the Waimea High School Girls. Kauai posted 1,181 points compared to Waimea’s 1,151 points, led by Caitlin Hinazume, who finished with a total of 241 points from performances in the prone, kneeling, and standing positions.

The tight competition between the schools means the KIF title is at stake on Saturday when all five KIF participating schools will meet at the Kauai High School range, starting at 10 a.m.

The KIF champions earn eligibility to compete at the 2025 Hawaii Army National Guard Hawaii High School Athletic Association Air Riflery State Championships that will take place on Nov. 4 at the Neal Blaisdell Center on Oahu.
