PUHI — Kauai High School boys and girls air rifle teams topped the Kauai Interscholastic Federation Quad Meet at the Island School air rifle range on Saturday.
Led by the top score from Jacob Andres, who finished with 537 points, including tying Waimea’s Ashten Gonzalez with the high point 191 in the prone position, the Kauai High School boys finished with an overall total of 2,058 points.
Waimea followed with 1,721. Kapaa boys marked 1,892 and Island School finished with 1,721.
Kauai High School’s Caylee Garma edged out Kapaa High School’s Dallas Sheldon by seven points to get high point honors. Garma’s high score combined with Taylee Yoshimoto, the second Red Raider wahine to cross the 500 mark, to lead the Kauai girls to 2,018 points and first place.
The Kauai girls were followed by Waimea High School at 1,922 and Kapaa High School at 1,868. Island School fielded three shooters to end at 1,317.
The next 3×20 match will be held at Kauai High School on Oct. 19 because of the fall break. The first shooters fire from 11 a.m. because of the KIF cross-country championships taking place.
