LIHUE — A number of road-related projects are on tap in the days ahead with grass cutting, tree trimming and guardrail repair making up the bulk of the work, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.
Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting. A map of lane closures can be found here, https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/
The following is a list of projects scheduled for the workweek ending Friday. All work is weather permitting.
Pua Loke
Shoulder closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) in the southbound direction, between mile post .51 to .56 in the vicinity of Uahi Road, from Wednesday, August 6 to Friday, August 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for waterline tie in.
Omao
Roving lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 2.9 to 8.7 in the vicinity of Kipu Road and Omao Road, nightly from Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for maintaining crosswalks.
Kipu
Roving lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 2.9 to 8.7 in the vicinity of Kipu Road and Omao Road, nightly from Sunday, August 3 to Friday, August 8 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping.
Koloa
Single lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 4 to 6.7 in the vicinity of Puuana Road and Maluhia Road from Sunday, August 3 to Friday, August 8 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for soil boring.
Lihue
Right lane closure on Kapule Highway (Route 51) in the northbound direction, between mile post 1.6 to 1.9, in the vicinity of Kaana Street and Ahukini Road, 24 hours 7 days a week beginning on Monday, August 4 to Monday, September 1 for sewer line installation.
Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 2 to 4, in the vicinity of Hanamaulu Road and Kauai Beach Road, on Tuesday, August 5 and Thursday, August 7 from 1 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. for cutting grass.
Nawiliwili
Two lane closure on Nawiliwili Road (Route 51) possible in either direction, between mile post 0.0 to 0.09, in the vicinity of Waapa Road, on Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for gutter and shoulder clearing.
Wailua
Two lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 5.6 to 5.9, in the vicinity of Wailua Bridge, on Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for bridge repair. There will be one lane of traffic open in both directions.
Wailua homesteads
Right lane closure on Kuamoo Road (Route 580) possible in either direction the vicinity mile post 4.8, on Monday, August 4 and Tuesday, August 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for guardrail repair.
Kapaa
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 8 to 9.5, in the vicinity of Akia Road, on Sunday, August 3 to Friday, August 8 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping and marking installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Kalihiwai
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 24.4 to 28.1, in the vicinity of Kahiliholo Road to Emmalani Drive, on Sunday, August 3 to Friday, August 8 from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. nightly for rumble strip installation and striping.
Kilauea
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 20.5 to 22, in the vicinity of Koolau Road and Kaluamakua Place, on Wednesday, August 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for guardrail repair.
Princeville
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 0.3 to 1.2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, on Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8 from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for asphalt reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Waikoko
Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 4 to 9, in the vicinity of Waipa Stream and Alealea Road, on Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 4.3 to 4.5, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahai Trailhead, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for slope stabilization of Waikoko Hillside. Hanalei
Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 2 to 3.5, in the vicinity of Kumu Road, on Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for clearing of inlets and outlets.
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) in the Haena bound direction between mile post 2.7 to 3.3, between the Tahiti Nui and Anae Road, on Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for paving and concrete work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Wahiawa
Right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) possible in either direction, between mile post 2 to 3, in the vicinity of McBride New Mill Road and Camp 2, on Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for fire break maintenance.
Kokee
Single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) possible in either direction between mile post 4.6 to 11.5, on Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for installation of BMP (Best Management Practices), grubbing, and clearing. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
