LIHUE — A number of road-related projects are on tap in the days ahead with grass cutting, tree trimming and guardrail repair making up the bulk of the work, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.

The following is a list of projects scheduled for the workweek ending June 6. All work is weather permitting.
Lihue
Right lane closure on Rice Street (Route 51) in the northbound direction, between mile post 0.0 to 0.9, in the vicinity of Waapa Road and Kapule Highway, on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the northbound direction, between mile post 4.2 to 5.7, in the vicinity of Wailua Golf Course and Wailua State Park, on Monday, June 2, Wednesday, June 4, and Friday, June 6 from 1 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. for grass cutting.
Kipu
Roving lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 2.9 to 8.7, in the vicinity of Kipu Road and Omao Road nightly from Sunday, June 1 to Friday, June 6 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping.
Koloa
Right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 5 to 10, in the vicinity of Kahili Road and Akemama Road on, Monday, June 2, to Friday, June 6 from 12:30 a.m. to 6 a.m. for guardrail clearing and cutting grass.
Eleele
Right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 14.5 to 15.5, Monday, June 2, to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for guardrail clearing.
Kaumakani
Right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 19 to 22, Monday, June 2, to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for grass cutting and guardrail clearing.
Kokee
Right lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) possible in either direction between mile post 7 to 11, between Kokee Road and Papaalai Road on Saturday, May 31 from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for tree trimming.
Single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) possible in either direction between mile post 11.5 to 14, on Monday, June 2, to Friday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for shoulder stabilization, grassing, guardrail, and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Kapaia
Complete closure on Temporary Kapaa Bypass Road (Route 5600) in the southbound direction between mile post 0.0 to 0.7, in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway and Olohena Road, on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping and marker installation. Right lane closure on Kuamoo Road (Route 580) possible in either direction between mile post 0.0 to 2, between Kuhio Highway and Kahawai Place, on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.
Right lane closure on Maalo Road (Route 583) possible in either direction between mile post 1 to 2, in the vicinity of Cane Road, on Saturday, May 31 from 4 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for cutting grass and tree trimming.
Kapaa
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 8 to 9.5, in the vicinity of Akia Road to Kealia Lookout, from Sunday, June 1 to Friday, June 6 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for resurfacing, concrete, and electrical work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction, between mile post 9.5 to 10, in the vicinity of Kealia Lookout and Mailihuna Road on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for drain cleaning.
Anahola
Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the northbound direction, between mile post 15 to 18, in the vicinity of Aliomanu Road on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.
Princeville
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 0.3 to 1.2, between Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for pipe and gutter installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Kilauea
Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the northbound direction, between mile post 21 to 22, between Kahili Makai Street and Kaluamakua Place on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 from 4 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for tree trimming.
All lanes on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) remain open, however the county road, Kolo Road that intersects with Kuhio Highway is closed at the intersection. The intersection will be closed 24/7 through the first week in July 2025. To access Kilauea town, traffic is being routed to Hookui Road and Pili Road. For work on the roundabout. Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) in the westbound direction between mile post 2.7 to 3.3, between Cin Tai Wai Road and Anae Road on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for concrete work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Waikoko
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 4.3 to 4.5, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahai Trailhead, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for slope stabilization of Waikoko Hillside.
