Road closures for the week of June 21-27, 2025

LIHUE — A number of road-related projects are on tap in the days ahead with grass cutting, tree trimming and guardrail repair making up the bulk of the work, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting. A map of lane closures can be found here, https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/

The following is a list of projects scheduled for the workweek ending Friday. All work is weather permitting.

Kipu

Roving lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 2.9 to 8.7 in the vicinity of Kipu Road and Omao Road, nightly from Sunday to Friday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping.

Single lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, at mile post 4.3 in the vicinity of Huleia/Halfway Bridge, on Wednesday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for routine bridge inspection.

Omao

Right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 9 to 12 in the vicinity of Upa Road and Ola Pua Road, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 12:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. for cutting grass and guardrail clearing.

Right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 9 to 12 in the vicinity of Upa Road and Ola Pua Road, from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.

Nawiliwili

Right lane closure on Nawiliwili Road (Route 51) possible in either direction, at mile post 0.0 to 0.9 in the vicinity of Kapule Highway and Waapa Road, on Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.

Lihue

Single lane closure on Kapule Highway (Route 51) possible in either direction, at mile post 0.0 to 0.9 in the vicinity of Hehi Road, the Hanamaulu Stream viaduct, on Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for routine bridge inspection.

Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 5.0 to 5.5, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Wailua State Park Road, on Tuesday and Thursday, from 1 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. for cutting grass.

Wailua

Full closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) on the Makai Wailua Bridge (Bryan J. Baptiste Memorial Bridge) between mile post 5.6 to 5.9, Monday to Tuesday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for mobilization of equipment. Traffic will be routed to the Mauka Wailua bridge. Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 6.2 to 6.4, in the vicinity of Papaloa Road to Lanikai Street, Sunday through Friday, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for construction along the highway.

Anahola

Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 15 to 17, in the vicinity of Aliomanu Road, from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.

Kapaa

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 8 to 9.5, in the vicinity of Akia Road to Kealia Lookout, on Sunday to Friday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for resurfacing, concrete, and electrical work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the northbound direction, between mile post 9.3 to 11, in the vicinity of Kawaihau Road, from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for guardrail repair.

Kilauea

Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 23.3 to 23.8, in the vicinity of Kolo Road and Kalihiwai Road, Monday to Wednesday, and Friday, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for roundabout construction.

Princeville

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 0.3 to 1.2, between Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for pipe and gutter installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

Hanalei

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) in the westbound direction between mile post 2.7 to 3.3, between the Hanalei Post Office and Anae Road from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drain line work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) in the Haena bound direction between mile post 3.1 to 3.4, between Old School House Road and Kumu Road on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for waterline connection.

Waikoko

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 4.3 to 4.5, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahai Trailhead, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for slope stabilization of Waikoko Hillside. Wahiawa

Single lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) possible in either direction between mile post 3.11 to 3.13 in the vicinity of Wahiawa Stream bridge, on Tuesday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for routine bridge inspection.

Kokee

Right lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) in the northbound direction between mile post 4.6 to 11.5, from Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for setting up temporary construction signs.

Single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) possible in either direction between mile post 11.5 to 14, on Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for shoulder stabilization, grassing, guardrail and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

Wailua Homesteads

Right lane closure on Kuamoo Road (Route 580) in the northbound direction between mile post 0.0 to 2, in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway and Kahawai Place, from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.

Single lane closure on Kuamoo Road (Route 580) possible in either direction between mile post 0.1 to 4, in the vicinity of Ohana Street and Hawaiiana Street nightly, from Sunday to Friday, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping and marker installation.
