LIHUE — A number of road-related projects are on tap in the days ahead with grass cutting, tree trimming and guardrail repair making up the bulk of the work, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.
In observance of Thanksgiving, there will be no contraflow or lane closures on Thursday, Nov. 27 unless otherwise permitted. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. The following is a list of projects scheduled for the workweek ending Friday. All work is weather permitting.
Omao
Single lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) in the southbound direction, between mile post 8.2 to 8.3 in the vicinity of Punee Road, on Monday, Nov. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for roadway borings. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Single lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 8.2 to 8.8 in the vicinity of Punee Road and Piiwai Place, on Monday, Nov. 24 to Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Nawiliwili
Single lane closure on Nawiliwili Road (Route 51) possible in either direction, between mile post 0.0 to 0.8 in the vicinity of Waapa Road and Rice Street, on Monday, Nov. 24 to Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for concrete sidewalk and curb work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Lihue
Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the northbound direction, near mile post 0.5, in the vicinity of Ehiku Street, on Monday, Nov. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for Hawaiian Telcom to do maintenance on the fiber network. Traffic will be routed to the inside northbound lane.
Kapaia to Hanamaulu
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 1.1 to 1.6, in the vicinity of Maalo Road to Laukona Street, on Monday, Nov. 24 to Wednesday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.
Kalihiwai to Princeville
Lane shift with intermittent lane closure as needed on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 24.4 to 28.1, in the vicinity of Kahiliholo Road to Emmalani Drive, on Monday, Nov. 24 to Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for striping.
Princeville to Hanalei
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 0.3 to 1.2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and the Ohiki Road, on Monday, Nov. 24 to Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for berming and erosion control matting installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Hanalei
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 1.2 to 2.3, in the vicinity of Hanalei Dolphin Restaurant and the Hanalei bridge, on Monday, Nov. 24 to Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for guardrail installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Lumahai to Halehomaha
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 5.5 to 8 in the vicinity of Alealea Road, on Monday, Nov. 24 to Wednesday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.
Waikoko
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 4.6 to 4.8, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahai Beach, on Monday, Nov. 24 to Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for soil nail drilling and grouting. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Kokee
Single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) possible in either direction, between mile post 1.2 to 5.5 in the vicinity of Panini Place, on Monday, Nov. 24 to Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for pavement reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) possible in either direction, between mile post 4.6 to 11.5, on Monday, Nov. 24 to Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for shoulder reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
