LIHUE — A number of road-related projects are on tap in the days ahead with grass cutting, tree trimming and guardrail repair making up the bulk of the work, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.
Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting. A map of lane closures can be found here, https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/
The following is a list of projects scheduled for the workweek ending Friday. All work is weather permitting.
Lihue to Puhi
Roving lane shift closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 0.0 to 2 in the vicinity of Rice Street and Anonui Street, from Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for restriping crosswalks.
Omao to Lawai
Lane shift on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 9 to 10 in the vicinity of Upa Road and Akemama Road, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for installation of new reflectors.
Nawiliwili
Single lane closure on Nawiliwili Road (Route 51) possible in either direction, between mile post 0.0 to 0.8 in the vicinity of Waapa Road and Rice Street, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for concrete sidewalk and curb work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Lihue to Kapaa
Roving lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 0.0 to 10, in the vicinity of Rice Street and Cane Haul Road, on Monday, October 6, Wednesday, October 8, and Friday, October 10 from 1 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. for street sweeping.
Wailua
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the southbound/Lihue bound direction, between mile post 5.7 to 5.9, in the vicinity of Wailua State Park and Kuamoo Road, on Wednesday, October 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge repair on the mauka Wailua bridge. One lane will remain open for through traffic.
Kapaa
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 8.0 to 9.5, in the vicinity of Akia Road, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for concrete work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Kalihiwai to Princeville
Side pocket shift with intermittent lane closure as needed on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 24.4 to 28.1, in the vicinity of Kahiliholo Road to Emmalani Drive, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for striping.
Princeville to Hanalei
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction, between mile post 0.0 to 2 in the vicinity of Emmalani Drive, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction, between mile post 0.3 to 1.2 in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for fence installation on Hanalei Hill. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Hanalei
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 1.2 to 2.3, in the vicinity of Ohiki Road and Papio Place, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for guardrail installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Waikoko
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 4.6 to 4.8, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahai Beach, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for soil nail drilling and grouting. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Kokee
Single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) possible in either direction between mile post 4.6 to 11.5, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for shoulder reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Kapaia
Single lane closure on Maalo Road (Route 583) possible in either direction between mile post 1 to 2.5, in the vicinity of Cane Road, on Sunday, October 5 from 4 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for grading work.
