Search suspended for two missing Kauai men

HANALEI – Two multiagency searches have been suspended Saturday afternoon for two men missing on the North Shore.

Kyle Barrett, 37, of Princeville, was last seen Tuesday near the entrance to Queens Bath at approximately 7:30 p.m. Barrett is 6 feet, 4 inches tall, weighs about 210 pounds, and has brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a white aloha shirt, dark shorts and sunglasses.

Bryson Higashi, 44, of Lihue, was last seen Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in Hanalei. Higashi is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs approximately 200 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair.

Personnel from the Kauai Police Department, Kauai Fire Department, Kauai Search and Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Department of Land and Natural Resources, and the Ocean Safety Bureau coordinated search operations by air, land and sea near Queens Bath and Hanalei through Saturday afternoon.

“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of Kyle Barrett and Bryson Higashi during this difficult time,” said Assistant Chief Darren Rose. “We appreciate the efforts of all our search partners, as well as the ongoing support from the community.”
