KOLOA – The 2025 Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, starting at 6:00 a.m. The racecourse will impact Koloa, Poipu, Lawai, and Kalaheo, with a combination of lane closures, full road closures, and partial restrictions between 5 a.m. and 2 p.m.
To ensure the safety of runners, spectators, and motorists, road closures will be managed throughout the course. Drivers are urged to plan ahead, expect delays, and use extreme caution when traveling in the area.
Road Closures:
• Poipu Road (Closed from the Poipu Roundabout to the Ala Kinoiki from 5:15 to 6:30 a.m.)
• Hoonani Road (Closed from Lawai Road to Kapili Road from 4:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
• Koloa Road (Inbound and outbound lanes from Kaumualii Highway closed from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
• Lauoho, Waha, and Puu Roads (Closed to thru traffic from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
• Omao Road (Closed from Kaumualii Highway to Koloa Road from 6 to 9:30 a.m.)
• Ala Kinoiki (Closed from 5:45 to 7:45 a.m.)
• Maluhia Road (Closed between the Ala Kinoiki and Kaumualii Highway from 6 to 8 a.m.)
Partial Closures:
• Kaumualii Highway from Maluhia to Omao Road (Alternating one-way traffic from 6 a.m. to approximately 9 a.m.)
• Papalina Road (Alternating one-way traffic from Waha to Puu Road from 7 to 11:30 a.m.)
• Ala Kalanikaumaka (Closed from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., open to outbound traffic from Poipu Roundabout to Koloa Road)
Officers will be posted at key intersections to manage traffic and ensure safety. Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destinations as traffic delays are expected.
