KILAUEA — A two-vehicle traffic collision Sunday morning resulted in multiple injuries.
On Sunday, at approximately 7:45 a.m., first responders were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Kuhio Highway near Hookui Road in Kilauea. The incident involved a white 2022 Honda multipurpose vehicle and a blue 2025 Mazda multipurpose vehicle.

The driver of the Honda was transported to Wilcox Medical Center in critical condition. The driver of the Mazda, a 72-year-old man, and one of the passengers, a 69-year-old woman, were treated at Wilcox Medical Center and later released. A second 69-year-old female passenger was medevaced to Straub Medical Center on Oahu for further treatment.
Speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash, and toxicology results are pending. The investigation remains ongoing.
