The United States had 100,717 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of 11:45 a.m. HST — by far more than any other nation.
Just a day earlier at about the same time, the U.S. reported 82,404 cases and passed China for the highest number, according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.
Two weeks ago, the U.S. had about 3,500 cases. Four weeks ago, the U.S. had 68.
Italy is now No. 2 in the world, with 86,498 cases, and China reported 81,897. They are followed by Spain (64,285), Germany (50,871), France (33,402) and Iran (32,332).
Globally, the number of confirmed cases as of 11:45 a.m. was 590,594, with 176 nations and territories reporting virus outbreaks.
More than 26,000 people had died worldwide, including more than 1,200 in the U.S.
About 130,000 people have recovered from the virus.
