PUHI — Registrations for the 2025 Kauai Unity Run are being accepted online at https://www.classy.org/event/2025-kauai-unity-run/e657744.
Hosted by Kauai Team Unify, the 2025 Kauai Unity Run will take place at the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School on March 7, starting at 6:30 p.m., with a goal of raising $10,000 for Special Olympics Kauai athletes.
“Participants in this fun, glow-in-the-dark fundraiser for all our Special Olympics Kauai teams can run, walk, dance, skip, stroll, and more while getting extra glow gear for each lap they compete,” said Leona Sa McDermott of Special Olympics Kauai. “There will be a DJ and the Aunty Manapua food truck.”
Kauai Team Unify has two goals for the glow-in-the-dark event. The first is to raise awareness and help support inclusion, acceptance, respect, and unity through a fun and unique activity.
Secondly, it is to raise funds for Special Olympics Kauai.
The 2025 Kauai Unity Run is a glow-in-the-dark, untimed event.
“We will provide glow sticks,” Team Unify said. “There will be music and games. For those who would rather just dance and play games, the CKMS playcourt will be open.”
Funds raised during the Kauai Unity Run will help the Kauai Special Olympics athletes and unified partners continue to participate in various athletic competitions, including this year’s state summer games, where athletes and Unified Partners from Special Olympics Kauai will travel to Oahu to compete.
“Our hope is to have everyone feel included in a fun, community event,” Team Unify said. “We hope this will inspire people to start embracing our differences without judgment.”
