ANINI — A male visitor died Monday afternoon after being pulled from waters off Anini Beach Park.
On Monday at approximately 3 p.m., first responders were dispatched to Anini Beach Park for a swimmer in distress. According to preliminary reports, the swimmer experienced trouble in the water and was assisted in making it to shore before collapsing.
Lifeguards with the Ocean Safety Bureau began CPR, and medics transported the swimmer to Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital. Despite continued life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Todd Wilt, a 61-year-old man from California.
An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.
