KALALAU — On Sunday, a distressed 30-year-old visitor was rescued from the Kalalau Trail.
Fire officials reported that on May 11, before 11 a.m., firefighters with the Lihue Fire Station onboard Air 1 helicopter were dispatched to the call regarding a distressed hiker on the Kalalau Trail.
First responders arrived on the scene and discovered the injured woman at the upper camp shelter of Hankoa. Due to the trail conditions, the distressed hiker was short-hauled to the Hanakoa landing zone, where she was boarded onto Air 1.
She was taken to the Princeville Airport, where medical personnel from American Medical Response provided further medical treatment.
