Waimea squeaks out Kauai Interscholastic Federation air riflery wins Saturday

LIHUE — Waimea High School air riflery teams squeaked out victories over Kauai High School on Saturday during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation air riflery matches held at the Kauai High School range.

After collating the results from both the Kauai High School range and the Island School range, the Waimea High School girls emerged tops with 1216 points to Kauai girls’ 1208 points — a difference of just 8 points.

On the boys’ range, a similar situation took place when the Menehune boys were able to accumulate 1,254 points to the Red Raider boys who finished with 1,247 points — a difference of just 7 points.

Over at the Island School range, Kapaa High School boys and girls teams were victorious over Island School. The Warrior boys outpointed the Voyager men, 1,205 points to Island School’s 836 points while on the girls’ side of the range, the Lady Warriors finished with 1,107 points to the Voyagers’ 1,022 points.

The Kauai Christian Academy boys were in the competitive lineup and finished with 695 points behind the high point honors from Jed Van Zee who finished with 163 points.

This Saturday, Kauai High School will host Kapaa at its home range while Waimea and Kauai Christian Academy will be shooting against Island School at the Voyagers’ range. The first shots at both sites go off from noon.
