LIHUE — The journey to the Miss Hawaii Filipina 2025 crown on Kauai started Wednesday when the Miss Oahu Filipina and the Miss Maui Filipina candidates arrived on the Garden Island to prepare for the pageant on Saturday evening.
Miss Oahu Filipina Inda Ching, and Miss Maui Filipina Bernadette Acaso — she said they’re the first Acasos on Maui — joined Miss Kauai Filipina Khiani Garcia, and the reigning Miss Hawaii Filipina Jaslen Valdez performed the traditional protocol of meeting with Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami prior to getting involved in any of the pageantry-related activities.
The Miss Hawaii Filipina Pageant is an integral arm of the United Filipino Councils of Hawaii that will be hosting its state convention on Kauai, this year at the Kauai Philippines Cultural Center. The Miss Hawaii Filipina pageant is on Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
Tickets for the Miss Hawaii Filipina pageant are still available, and will be available on Thursday when the group meets at the Kukui Grove Center for the State Miss Hawaii Filipina Cultural event that starts at 4:30 p.m. and continues through 6 p.m.
The four royalty Miss Filipinas will be involved in a fashion show featuring designs from Deja Vu Surf Hawaii, Ai Nofea, and Barbara Green Filipina Fashions. The Paraluman Dancers and friends will join the excitement where the community can meet the contestants and get a taste of the entertainment coming up on Saturday night.
In addition to the pageant, pageant rehearsals and judging, the queens’ contingent are scheduled to visit and tour the Kauai Coffee, the Lawai International Center, and the site of the Hanapepe Massacre where the County of Kauai is working to create a park. They were hosted by local restaurants Mama Lucy’s in Puhi, and Japanese Grandma in Hanapepe.
