LIHU‘E — The state Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office announced 53 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

Sunday’s cases bring the number of active cases to 494, with 11 hospitalized, and 11,045 cumulative cases.

More detailed information on new cases is available on the DOH COVID-19 data dashboard, at health.hawaii.gov/coronavirusdisease2019/current-situation-in-hawaii/.

Due to the high volume of cases, DOH case investigators will generally not contact positive cases until several days after positive tests.

With the shortened isolation period, in some instances case investigators will not be able to reach cases before the end of isolation periods.

Anyone testing positive should immediately isolate at home and notify close contacts including workplaces and schools. Isolation and quarantine guidance is available at hawaii.gov, under Home-Isolation-and-Quarantine-Guidance.pdf.

For information about isolation and quarantine, visit the CDC’s website at cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/quarantine-isolation.html.

Free vaccinations are offered islandwide. Vaccinations are available to anyone 5 years of age or older and are free, safe and effective. For details on the vaccination sites, visit kauai.gov/vaccine.

Free testing is also available islandwide. For a list of testing sites and details, visit kauai.gov/covidtest.

The Lihu‘e Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall COVID testing center is no longer running out of tickets for testing by 9 a.m. Tests are available to the public.
