Annex I at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital a step toward better patient care

WAIMEA — Kahu Wayne Vidinha of Ke Akua Mana Church officiated the blessing of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation’s Kauai Region Annex I at the Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital campus on Tuesday.

“Annex I represents an investment in our staff and the important work they do every day by creating a supportive work environment,” said Lance Segawa, the HHSC Kauai Region CEO. “This facility supports key education and administrative functions enabling us to modernize hospital space for an enhanced patient care experience.”

Annex I, comprised of two modular buildings connected by a wide walkway, provides a centralized home for the In-Service Education Department and several key administrative offices, including a dedicated Marketing and Communications office.

While not a patient care building, Annex I enhances hospital operations by supporting staff training, collaboration, and essential behind-the-scenes functions that contribute to quality care.

The blessing and dedication of Annex I represents the HHSC Kauai Region’s continued investment in modernizing facilities and strengthening the support services that sustain healthcare on Kauai.

Segawa will be joined by Kauai District Health Officer Dr. Janet Berreman, and Jen Chahanovich, CEO and president of Kauai Medical Group on Thursday at the free Lihue Business Association meeting at Duke’s restaurant where the future of healthcare on Kauai will be discussed.
