Baseball All-Stars announced by Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation

LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation named its baseball All-Stars on Monday, which included Joshua Rego of Kaua‘i High School being named Player of the Year.

Kapa‘a High School Warriors head coach Bryan Aiwohi, got the nod as Coach of the Year. Overall, Kapa‘a placed four players on the all-star roster — Kimo Kupihea (third base), Cheysten Manintin (pitcher), Kahiapo Kuhaulua-Leong (center field) and Rylan Yamaguchi (utility).

The KIF Champion Kaua‘i Red Raiders filled five of the All-Star spots, including Rego. Racen Pegeder (first base, Aukai Arruda (shortstop), Dane Yamauchi (left field) and Dalton John Bukoski (catcher).

The Waimea Menehune rounded out the All-Stars with two spots — Makani Rita (second base) and Nobu Yamauchi (right field).

Kaua‘i High School earned the No. 2 seed during the Division II state finals. After running past the Kahuku Red Raiders 12-1 in the opening series, the Kaua‘i Red Raiders were upset by the No. 3 seed Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i 7-2 to end the run in the weather-plagued championship series.
