Brush fire knocked down in Mana

MANA — A small brush was knocked down and extinguished at Kaua‘i Raceway Park on Tuesday evening.

The Kaua‘i Fire Department (KFD) received a report of the fire shortly before 7:40 p.m., at which time firefighters from the Waimea fire station were dispatched to the scene.

“According to a preliminary report, KFD personnel arrived on the scene and discovered (one-quarter) acre of brush on fire at the end of the raceway at Kaua‘i Raceway Park,” the KFD said. “With the assistance of Kekaha Landfill personnel and their two water tenders, crews controlled the fire at approximately 8:15 p.m. and later extinguished the blaze.”

The cause of the fire is undetermined. No injuries or damaged structures were reported.
