Cessna makes emergency landing in North Kohala

A Cessna with four people on board made an emergency landing Friday morning near Upolu Point in North Kohala.

The pilot of the single-engine Cessna 172 reported a loss of oil pressure before landing on Puakea Bay Road in Hawi 10:14 a.m., an FAA spokesperson said. Four people were on board.

The FAA will investigate, the spokesperson said.

No additional information was available as of press-time.

According to the FAA, the plane was manufactured in 1975 with a current certificate valid through July 2024. The registered owner per the tail number on the plane was Fly Maui LLC, a flight school out of Kahului Airport.
