Contestants needed for Miss Kaua‘i USA, Miss Kaua‘i Teen USA

LIHU‘E — Sunday, Aug. 8 is the deadline for contestants interested in vying for the crowns of 2021 Miss Kaua‘i USA, Miss Kaua‘i Teen USA, and the Miss Kaua‘i Princess Pageant that will feature three crown titles — Tiny Miss Kaua‘i for keiki ages 6 to 8 years old, Little Miss Kaua‘i for youth ages 9 through 11 years old, and Junior Miss Kaua‘i for youth ages 12 and 13 years old.

Miss Kaua‘i USA Executive Director Avery Kano made the announcement as the organization works on the final stages of recruiting for the 2021 Miss Kaua‘i USA and the Miss Kaua‘i Teen USA pageant that will be held on Sept. 21 at the Kaua‘i Community College Performing Arts Center where the winners will advance to compete at the Miss Hawai‘i USA and Miss Hawai‘i Teen USA pageants scheduled to be held in January 2022 on O‘ahu.

“Nicholette Levinthol and Talia Suzuki are the reigning Miss Kaua‘i USA, and Miss Kaua‘i Teen USA, respectively,” Kano said. “They both placed second runner up at the state pageant in December 2020. Our own Ki‘ilani Arruda is the current Miss Teen USA who won the title in Memphis, Tennessee in November 2020. Ki‘ilani is just back from the Dominican Republic with the current Miss USA, Asya Branch, where they worked with SMILE TRAIN, an international children’s charity, with a sustainable approach to a single, solvable problem — cleft lip and palate.”

Contestants for the Miss Kaua‘i USA and Miss Kaua‘i Teen USA must be between the ages of 14 to 27 years old, a United States citizen, and a resident of the State of Hawai‘i. They must be single, never married, and not had a child.

Phases of competition in the pageant include a private interview, evening gown, and swimsuit for the Miss contestants, and activewear for the Teen contestants.

“We at the Miss Kaua‘i USA organization encourage any interested young woman to apply, whether or not you have pageant or modeling experience,” Kano said. “We will be working with you in the weeks leading up to the pageant.”

Contestants for the Miss Kaua‘i Princess will compete in interviews, evening gown/party dress, and activewear.
