COVID-19 testing available island-wide

LIHU‘E — The county’s free testing site at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e and the mobile testing van are testing over 700 people a day for COVID-19, leading to long lines and wait times, according to officials.

Wilcox Medical Center in Lihu‘e operates a drive-up testing center for those with a doctor’s order. To get a physician order, call a primary-care physician.

Those without a primary-care physician may call the Hawai‘i Pacific Health COVID-19 Virtual Clinic to be evaluated by a care provider who can order a COVID-19 test if clinically appropriate. Call 808-462-5430 and select option 3. The Wilcox drive-up testing center is located at the rear entrance of the medical center at 3-3420 Kuhio Hwy., Lihu‘e, and is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. except holidays.

Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea offers drive-up testing with a doctor’s order. Enter the Emergency Department driveway located off Waimea Canyon Drive to access the testing weekdays from 10 a.m. to noon except holidays.

Lihu‘e Pharmacy Group, 4491 Kolopa St. next to State Farm Insurance, offers free drive-thru testing seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is open on Labor Day. Appointments are highly recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. For an appointment, register online at PreventCOVIDHI.com or call 808-635-4968. Photo identification is required. No insurance card or physician’s order are needed. Stay in vehicle and put hazard lights on and a technician will come.

Clinical Labs of Hawai‘i is offering COVID-19 screenings by appointment only at two locations: Kukui Grove Executive Center in Lihu‘e, 4370 Kukui Grove St., Suite 108 (near movie theater), and Kaua‘i Medical Clinic in the Kapa‘a Shopping Center, 4-831 Kuhio Highway, Suite 332. Appointments are
available via the Clinical Labs website at ClinicalLabs.com/COVID. When arriving at one of these screening locations, be prepared to provide a physician’s order, photo identification and phone number.

Longs Kapa‘a offers drive-up testing seven days a week by appointment only. Tests are sent to the mainland and results may be delayed. To make an appointment, visit cvs.com/minuteclinic/covid-19-testing.

The Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall free county testing site at 4191 Hardy Street in Lihu‘e is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including Labor Day. No appointment or doctor’s order is necessary. Results are provided on the same day. The testing center has been experiencing long wait times. Those with symptoms should not come to the walk-in testing center. Instead, make an appointment for a drive-up test.

The mobile testing van offers free testing in a different community each day, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Results are provided the same day. No appointments are needed: Wednesdays, Kekaha Neighborhood Center; Thursdays, Kilauea Neighborhood Center; Fridays, Kalaheo Neighborhood Center; Saturdays, Hanalei Neighborhood Center; and Sundays, Kapa‘a Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex.

There are also two paid testing options: Po‘ipu Mobile MD Clinic has walk-in testing at 1941 Po‘ipu Rd., and offers mobile in-home testing.
